Scaevola plumeri : Inkberry

A low shrub with gold edged rich dark green fleshy leaves at home in the dunes and nearby landscapes.

The ultimate coastal shrub, here it sprawls over the top of the front dune with the Sea Oats.

A crop of fat berries turns from green to black with its signature white "half-flowers" here and there.

Not to confuse with an invasive Australian relative, Beach Naupaka, that crowds out native dune plants.
