MODEL:  MARITIME FOREST NATIVE PRESERVE:    INTRODUCTION    PHOTO MAP    NEXT PHOTO

12 This infant bit of forest along the rear property line is only four years old here, but it already provides an effective screen between the parking lot and the adjacent residence. At the left are two young Live oaks planted for the Florida and National Arbor Days in 2002, and between them a young Southern red cedarplanted on an Arbor day in 2004. To the right of the vined Sabal palm is a large oak donated as a memorial tree in 2003. The bushy trees filling in between are Green buttonwoods. The grasses on the left are Muhly grass, and Sand cordgrass on the right. The Virginia creeper at the foot of the palm in the foreground will very soon fill its head too, and then cascade down in a skirt of green tendrils.
